The most magical place on Earth got a little more magical for our family.
On the last night of a week long trip, 300 feet up in the air at Disney Springs, the magic wasn’t quite over. Jose first presented a very special, last birthday present necklace to Stella promising to love her, care for her, lead her and support her. He then said, he also wanted to ask her for permission to ask her Mama to marry him. Oh the excitement that flooded not only her face, but mine as well.
Little did I know, Stella had known all day that Jose was going to propose. They had attempted to do so many times throughout the day unbeknownst to me. (If you ask Stella about this story she will say it was my fault and I threw roadblocks up in their way every time they suggested something. I tend to disagree. I just was trying to make sure we got to where we were supposed to be on time. Have you been to Disney? It’s a scheduled vacation most of the time.) So the emotion of glee on her face was stemming from the anticipation she’d had all day. Mine was from the surprise, and anticipation I’d had for years! Hahaha.
There, up in a hot air balloon, Jose asked me to marry him and I of course said yes.
The next 24 hours were a blur. Calling parents, texting friends, getting home and unpacked from our trip. Heading to work tired and needing a vacation from our vacation. THEN, to find the best way to make it known on Social Media.
Now, as you can imagine, I have seen HUNDREDS of different engagement announcing photos. From all the friends, family, and acquaintances on social media to Pinterest posts and strangers on IG; I wanted ours to be a little different. (I know, even that is cliché since I think everyone wants that!)
The problem was, we were home. The photo we took immediately upon becoming “engaged” (it’s just so fancy to say that) is not the best lighting or attractive picture of the three of us. Ok, really just of me. In my defense, it was almost midnight, we had hopped between two different parks, had an early dinner at Ohana’s, and just finished the most amazing second dinner at The Boathouse there in Disney Springs. (Seriously, you should see the size of their lobster!)
Needless to say, with the October humidity, I think you should just focus on the sheer joy and excitement, not our hair or dewy complexions.
So, with our beloved letter board, my favorite Minnie Mouse ears, and my newly attained RING… we made our announcement!
